January 15, 2008 - Truckee, CA - Powhound.com launched a new classified ad and community website yesterday with the goal of helping skiers and snowboarders find the best deals on lift tickets, lodging packages and equipment at Lake Tahoe, Calif. and Nev. area ski resorts. The site offers a free and easy way for people to post ads that focus on the needs of people who are passionate about skiing and snowboarding.
"Powhound.com was created to bring together snowsports enthusiasts and to provide a central place for posting and finding deals related to skiing and snowboarding," says Max Shu Teasdale, founder & CEO of Powhound.com. For its first year, Powhound.com will focus on the specific needs of the weekend warrior who is within driving distance to ski resorts in California or Nevada. The free classified ads are the main module of the site and include categories unique to snowsports, such as selling and buying gear, lift ticket deals, and "ride-share" and "house-share" categories. The site facilitates information-sharing by allowing community members to comment on ads, rate and review ski resorts, and exchange tips on where to stay and what to do in ski areas.

To ensure that the site meets the needs of its target users, Powhound.com recruited avid skiers and snowboarders to be on its advisory board and to help test the site. Powhound.com has also collected content and input from ski resort and other partners.
