What is Powhound.com?
Powhound.com is an online community for skiers and snowboarders. The site includes classified ads, resort profiles, and insider tips.
How is Powhound.com different from other ski and snowboard websites?
Powhound.com provides a free way to post and view classified ads. It also allows you to review and rate ski resorts and add comments. Members can become Top Dogsand give feedback on the site and also get deals and discounts from our partners.
How do I get started?
You can browse the website as a visitor or join Powhound.com to post classified ads, rate resorts and add comments. The site has two main sections:
- Classifieds - Post deals such as discounts on lift tickets, lodging, and vacation packages, or announcements such as events, club activities, and job openings.
- Resorts – use this section of the site to find resorts by region. Each resort page includes a description of the resort, activities offered at the resort, and tips and comments from members.
Why should I join?
By joining, you can post classified ads as well as rate ski resorts and post comments about their services. You can also opt in to receive our Steals & Deals newsletter, PowDreams blog and to join the Top Dogs mailing list.
How do I join?
Complete the membership form at www.powhound.com/signup. After you’ve submitted the form, you will be sent a link to verify your email address and confirm your membership.
Who can be a member?
Anyone who is a “powhound”, that is, anyone addicted to, obsessed with, and/or passionate about skiing and/or snowboarding. For legal reasons, you must be at least 13 years old to use the site.
How do the Member Ratings work?
Powhound.com's rating system is set up to collect the "popular vote" of the membership. Each member gets one vote per resort. The higher the rating number, the more popular the resort among our members. We chose this rating system to help level the playing field between small and large resorts--a small resort with a loyal following could have a rating comparable to a large resort. Members can also add comments with their ratings.
What information shows up in my member profile?
Your user name and sport are required fields, the other fields are optional. You can turn the display function on or off by going to “My Profile” once you have logged in. Your member points are also displayed.
Can I get in touch with other members?
If a member chooses to display his or her email, you can email that person directly. Remember, as a member you agree to the Terms of Use, which includes a clause about not harassing other members.

How are the regions broken up on Powhound.com?
Currently, we are focusing only on ski resorts in California and Nevada. The regions are broken up into areas such as "Lake Tahoe-North" and Southern California. We will eventually expand to other regions in North America and around the world.
